It’s been about 8 months since we stopped our egg CSA program in Portland. While it was a big change for us, it’s very much for the better, since it was pretty labor intensive, feeding and moving the hens, collecting and washing eggs, and delivering or marketing them.
When you include the “mental overhead” of keeping track of production, fretting about shortages, and keeping customers happy, it sure was a lot of work. Once it stopped being profitable, it was a very easy thing to stop…I just wish we had done so before it got to that point…
