Pruning....soon
It's pretty warm out there...the weather the Pacific Northwest has been having has been pretty amazing if you're able to get out into it. It's feeling a lot more like spring, and not so much like February.
Don't let it fool you, though...here on the farm, I'm going to hold off on the annual fruit tree pruning for another few weeks. The warm weather has all of the fruit trees swelling their buds and looking to flower; if we were to prune them now, they would respond with an early bud break. And then, one of those late spring frosts would nip all of our fruit production for the year, and we'd be pretty sad to be without fruit on the first productive year of our new orchard.
So, my advice to you is to hold off on pruning for a little longer...we're not out of winter yet!
If you have any fruit care questions, drop me a line...
