About Us: Volunteer

As WWOOF volunteers in New Zealand several years ago, we had the good fortune to gain first hand farming experience on several different farms. The skills and knowledge we picked up during our WWOOFing time encouraged us to pursue our own dream of having a farm, and we want to help others to further their goals by spending time on a working farm like ours. This is definitely a two-way street because taking care of our myriad farm creatures and all of our acreage and projects can certainly be a large task, so we are always grateful to meet up with folks who can share some time and skills with us.

Volunteer Opportunities

Seasonal Intern

This year, we won't be taking in any long term interns. Our first child was born in May, 2007, and we have been streamlining farm chores to make day-to-day management feasible for just the two of us.

Work Parties

From planting trees to blackberry eradication to restoring our pond to building new farm structures, our project list is endless. Fortunately we have a great group of friends and customers who graciously come out from time to time to help us out. You just bring sturdy clothes, shoes, and gloves, and we'll supply the tools, lunch, and a project to tackle.

Short-term stays / WWOOFers

During spring and summer we have opportunities for 1-2 people at a time to come stay at the farm (plenty of room for tent camping, as well as an on-site camper...we'll provide the food) and help us out in exchange for a view of the day-to-day life on a working farm. These are perfect for folks who live in the Portland area and might want to come out for a weekend, or for people passing through who want to work and stay on a farm for a few days. Contact us directly for more information about this, or check our journal for updates about our volunteer needs.
