Farm Biosecurity

Our increasingly interconnected world brings with it both benefits and challenges. While we are quite fond of our coffee in the morning, there are downsides as well.

Several poultry diseases have been making the rounds over the last few months. Both Avian Influenza (bird flu) and Exotic Newcastle Disease are highly contagious to poultry, and can result in government inspectors destroying entire flocks to contain them.

We'll be doing our part to avoid this situation...we hope you will too. Please avoid wearing shoes to our farm that you've worn when exposed to any poultry or waterfowl in the past month. We will have bleached water at the open house available to step into before visiting the birds, but we all know what bleach can do for fabrics...the best bet is to wear different shoes.

Thanks!
